The main islands are grouped into two groups: the Balearic and Canary Islands. The Balearic Islands are located in the Mediterranean, not far from the coasts of the Valencian Community and consist of four main islands, Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The Canary Islands are located instead in the Atlantic off the coast of southern Morocco and over 1000 km south-west of the Iberian Peninsula. Geographically appartenengono the African continent. Are Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro finally. There are other smaller islands, much more small, as the Cies Islands.
